As part of National Suicide Prevention Month, the Veterans Resource Team invites staff and faculty to attend VA S.A.V.E. Training, a Veteran Suicide Prevention course, on Friday, November 13th at 9:30pm. in the Comstock Memorial Union (CMU 205). VA S.A.V.E. Training is a brief in-person course that will help you act with care and compassion if you come across a Veteran who is in crisis or having thoughts of suicide. The session is capped at 30 participants. If you are interested in attending, please register via Dragon Central.

The acronym S.A.V.E. helps you remember the important steps involved in suicide prevention:
S- Know the Signs that indicate a Veteran might be thinking about suicide
A- Ask the most important question of all — “Are you thinking of killing yourself?”
V- Validate the Veteran’s experience
E- Encourage treatment and Expedite getting help

If you cannot attend this session, do not worry. We will be offering both in-person and virtual VA S.A.V.E. Training throughout the academic year.

This training is offered in partnership with the Veterans Affairs Suicide Prevention Program and an MSUM initiative under the Yellow Ribbon Advance grant from the U.S. Department of Education.

Accessibility Statement: MSUM is committed to creating an inclusive and accessible event. If you need a reasonable accommodation to attend this event, please contact Chuck Eade at Charles.Eade@mnstate.edu to discuss further. You will be contacted individually to discuss your request.
